🚀 The Four Stages Of Change

There are said to be four stages we go through when it comes to change.

.

Stage 1 is Unconscious Incompetence.

.

This is where you are in a place and you are unaware of the need, or have no desire, to change.

.

Stage 2 is Conscious Incompetence.

.

This is where you are aware you need to change, or have the desire to change, but don’t have the motivation or knowledge to create that change.

.

Stage 3 is Conscious Competence.

.

This is where you are actually making change happen, but you still have to think about what you’re implementing - it’s not an unconscious habit yet.

.

Stage 4 is Unconscious Competence.

.

This is where you have made certain changes and those changes are now part of your daily life - you don’t even need to think consciously about doing what it is that you do.

.

Let’s take an example…

.

Stage 1:

.

You’re a little overweight…

.

you may know that you are…

.

you may not even notice…

.

either way…

.

you have no desire to make any changes to your lifestyle.

.

Stage 2:

.

You’re aware that you’re a little overweight…

.

and you are actively looking for solutions.

.

But you’re not actively taking any action yet…

.

just researching essentially.

.

Stage 3:

.

You’ve started to take action and are now becoming more active.

.

Maybe you joined a gym.

.

Maybe you have started to clean up your diet and cut out some of the foods you know are not so good for you.

.

At this stage it’s still a major effort to do this stuff…

.

and you have to consciously carry out these new behaviours.

.

Stage 4:

.

You don’t even need to think about the above now.

.

Daily exercise and movement are just part of a healthy lifestyle that you’ve committed to.

.

You don’t even need to think about avoiding certain foods now…

.

it’s just part of who you are.

.

Your whole mindset has had a massive shift.

.

Thinking about your own life now…

.

what stage are you in within a single aspect of your life?

.

Think about it carefully…

.

and start taking action into stage 2.

.

If you commit to action…

.

daily consistent action…

.

you will make it through to stage 4.

.
