It seems silly to say something like that, doesn’t it.
.
But it’s true.
.
Until you discover a better way of doing something…
.
maybe a better way of thinking…
.
you don’t know any better…
.
and will continue to do the same thing…
.
or think the same way.
.
When you discover a more beneficial…
.
more efficient way of doing something…
.
or a more efficient and beneficial way of thinking…
.
you’ll start to see and experience a different outcome.
.
More specifically…
.
it’s your subconscious mind that controls this.
.
You see…
.
the subconscious mind learns from past experiences…
.
and stores these away for future reference for when a similar event happens again.
.
It can then refer to the archives…
.
and govern your behaviour in the same way it did before when the past experience happened.
.
It does this to keep you safe and alive.
.
Unfortunately…
.
sometimes the behaviour, although it kept you safe…
.
wasn’t the most efficient or beneficial way of doing whatever it was.
.
Yet it’s stored as ‘truth’...
.
and will continue to action that behaviour…
.
even though there may be a better way of dealing with the issue at hand in the present moment.
.
So…
.
how do you overcome this?
.
You simply have to analyse your behaviour…
.
and ask yourself if it’s currently the best way to be dealing with whatever problem you’re facing.
.
Of course that can be quite difficult…
.
especially if you’re unaware of any other choices available.
.
And that’s where a Coach, Therapist, Counsellor or whoever you choose to go and see…
.
comes into play.
.
They open up new avenues of thought.
.
They challenge your thinking.
.
They help you see from different perspectives.
.
Leading to new ways of thinking…
.
and new ways of living and behaving.
.
“You don’t know what you don’t know”
.
Another silly quote…
.
but one that actually makes sense when you think about it.
.
Are you thinking or behaving in a way that is best serving you?
.
Ask yourself that question and think about it really carefully.
.
Perhaps you think you are.
.
But are you really?
.
.
