I know that a lot of people who are in sobriety tend to see the Christmas period as a challenging time.
.
Why?
.
I don’t know.
.
Because it doesn’t have to be that way…
.
It can be even more enjoyable when sober.
.
Drinking, when you have a problem with alcohol, only brings misery into your life.
.
Staying sober on the other hand, brings the opposite into your life.
.
So why does the Christmas period have to be different to any other time of the year?
.
It’s just another day/week in the big scheme of things.
.
In my opinion, it’s just an excuse to become a little bit lax with sobriety.
.
An excuse to drink ‘because it’s Christmas’.
.
Maybe there’s a fear of missing out…
.
Missing out on what?
.
Misery. Pain and suffering?
.
Because that’s what drinking will bring - if you have a problem with alcohol of course.
.
Even if you don’t have a problem with it…
.
It still brings the above when you over-do it, right.
.
So why bother in the first place.
.
What benefits are there to drinking?
.
From where I’m standing - NONE!
.
There are many mistaken beliefs about alcohol, a big one being that it’s a ‘social lubricant’.
.
But are you telling me that you cannot enjoy yourself and that you cannot socialise without alcohol?
.
If that’s a yes - then you may have a problem with it…
.
You’re using it as a crutch.
.
When you step out of that false belief system and see alcohol for what it really is - just a toxin that your body cannot get rid of fast enough…
.
You step into freedom.
.
Freedom from suffering, and freedom from pain and misery.
.
Life can then be lived, and not just endured.
.
If you want to start a new life in sobriety next year…
.
Get in touch.
.
I’ll help you see through all the false beliefs…
.
And help you start living instead of just enduring.
