Do past negative experiences affect your behaviour today?
The simple answer…
yes.
Why?
Well…
whenever you experience a negative event…
you attach a strong emotion to that event.
That strong emotion is a reminder for your subconscious, and therefore you…
to avoid similar situations anytime in the future.
This is a ‘safety mechanism’ that keeps you safe…
that’s the job of your subconscious - to keep you safe…
to keep you alive.
Of course…
sometimes that isn’t always beneficial.
Maybe it wasn’t a life threatening experience…
it was just frightening and unforeseen.
But…
your subconscious doesn’t know that.
‘It’ thinks that you were in danger…
that it was possibly life threatening…
and so stores that event for future reference…
so that you don’t have to go through that experience again.
Now…
let’s say you experienced fear just before a public speaking event.
Your heart was racing.
Your palms were sweaty.
Your mind suddenly went blank with fear.
Your subconscious assumes that you’re in danger and ‘logs’ that event as one to avoid in future or definitely one to display those symptoms again when faced with the same or similar event…
perhaps even escalating those symptoms.
Now, every time you have the opportunity to speak publicly…
you avoid it.
Or if you’re forced into it…
you’re filled with dread and fear…
and those symptoms just get worse and worse.
Of course…
there is a way to cessate that fear and those symptoms.
You discover the ISE…
the Initial Sensitising Event (the first time it happened)…
bring it into conscious awareness…
and explore it rationally…
so the subconscious discovers that it was irrational behaviour and that it isn’t required.
Essentially you’re ‘deleting’ the programming that was installed at that first ‘sensitising’ event.
How do you do that?
Through hypnosis of course.
Hypnosis is a very simple and effective way to ‘reprogram’ the subconscious to behave or react how you want it to behave or react.
